6" Lightweight Steerable Tail Wheel by Matco

The T-6 tailwheel has .625" precision sealed ball bearing which is rigorously tested and designed to resist bearing fatigue providing a long bearing life. The arms and wings of the tailwheel fork assembly are composed of 4130 which is heat treated to a Rockwell 38-43 to ensure strength and are irradiated to prevent corrosion. The tailwheel base and forks are cast and then black anodized to prevent corrosion as well.
The tailwheel assembly itself is full swiveling and provides easy installation with variant spring tensions. This wheel has been designed to release with a very light spring tension and can accommodate either a 1.25" or 1.50" wide spring. When a 1.50" spring is used, a .25" spacer should be mounted on the flat spring so that the pivoting axle is as close to vertical as possible when the plane is loaded.
All bushings are made of nylatron or oil impregnated brass so no lubrication is needed during the life of the tailwheel. The ball bearings in the wheel assembly are sealed and do not require lubrication either. In addition, the shaft has been redesigned to .625" for added strength and durability.
The 6" composite wheel is made using fiberglass reinforced nylon and has an operating load of 450 pounds. It takes over 5,000 pounds to fail the wheel and it will hold up to most rigorous application.
